The World Health Organization (WHO) has issued an urgent call for qualified institutions to help curb the devastating impact of advanced HIV disease (AHD).

This initiative aims to strengthen the development, implementation, and monitoring of global norms and standards to improve health outcomes.

Despite significant global progress in general HIV services, AHD remains a primary driver of death and illness, particularly within low- and middle-income nations.

The initiative seeks to bridge the gap between global guidelines and local service delivery to save lives.

Funding and benefits

Selected partners will work directly with WHO’s Department for HIV, Tuberculosis, Hepatitis and Sexually Transmitted Infections to shape international health policy.

This collaboration provides a platform to influence global standards for HIV-associated tuberculosis and fungal infections.

This partnership offers the chance to develop critical implementation tools, training resources, and advocacy materials to prioritize AHD on the global stage.

Partners will also contribute to high-level evidence synthesis and the creation of inpatient care bundles.

Application requirements and eligibility

Applicants must be institutions or consortia with proven clinical expertise in managing AHD and public health programming.

The WHO is looking for entities capable of providing both technical and programmatic support across various regions.

Candidates are expected to demonstrate strong skills in data analysis, technical writing, and a history of successful collaboration with international organizations.

Experience in supporting country-level capacity building is also essential for eligibility.

Proposals must include a detailed approach, a clear workplan, personnel qualifications, and a comprehensive budget for the project.

Bidders are encouraged to review the full Terms of Reference for specific evaluation criteria.

Deadline

Interested parties must submit an intention to bid by May 15, 2026, to the designated WHO electronic address.

The final deadline for full proposal submissions is May 22, 2026, at 23:59 CEST.
