The 24th DongGang International Photo Festival (DIPF) has officially opened its call for entries, inviting photographers from around the globe to showcase their work in Yeongwol, South Korea.

Scheduled to run from July 17 to October 11, 2026, this premier event seeks to bridge the gap between human interpretation and the natural world.

This year’s theme, “The Silence that Shapes,” challenges artists to move beyond projecting human emotions onto the landscape.

By exploring nature as a “blank canvas” or archetype, the festival aims to uncover how we truly inhabit and read the world through the camera lens.

Funding and benefits

Successful applicants—estimated between 15 and 20 artists—will see their work featured in the festival’s main exhibition spaces and outdoor displays.

Benefits include professional production of works for the exhibition and significant international exposure through art magazines, media outlets, and the official DIPF catalog.

One standout individual or collective will be named “Artist of the Year,” earning a dedicated solo exhibition.

This top honor includes covered costs for printing and framing, alongside provided travel and accommodation for the festival’s opening ceremony.

Application requirements and eligibility

The call is open to both individuals and collectives at any stage of their careers, and there is no entry feebrequired for submission.

Individual applicants are expected to submit a cohesive body of work consisting of 8 to 12 digital images.

Digital files must be in Jpeg or Tiff format, with each image measuring at least 4,000 pixels on its longest side.

Submissions must be sent via email or WeTransfer and include a one-page CV and a short artist statement.

Deadline

The final deadline for all submissions is June 1, 2026, at midnight. Artists are encouraged to ensure all required components are included, as incomplete applications will not be reviewed by the festival’s curatorial team.

Selection results will be announced on the festival’s official website and communicated individually to winners by June 10, 2026. Selected projects will then become a central part of a multi-month celebration of photography in the heart of South Korea.
