The World Literacy Foundation is seeking 1,000 passionate young leaders from 60 different countries to join its 2026 Youth Ambassador Program.

This initiative aims to mobilize the next generation of advocates to ensure every child has the fundamental opportunity to read and write.

Running from June to September, the program transforms participants into local literacy champions through dynamic, youth-led online modules.

Ambassadors will engage in creative collaboration and hands-on advocacy to spark meaningful change within their own neighborhoods and across the globe.

Funding and benefits

Successful applicants gain access to a prestigious global network of changemakers and receive specialized training in leadership, PR, and community organizing.

Upon the successful conclusion of the program, all participants are awarded an official certificate of completion to recognize their efforts.

While the ambassador role is a volunteer position rather than a paid job, it offers invaluable real-world experience in the non-profit sector.

Furthermore, those who successfully organize and execute community fundraising activities become eligible for a formal recommendation letter from the Foundation.

Application requirements and eligibility

The program is specifically designed for individuals between the ages of 16 and 25 who care deeply about education and social impact.

Applicants must have reliable access to a computer or smartphone and an internet connection to complete the approximately 30 hours of required activity.

Candidates should be active on social media and eager to use their digital voices to advocate for global literacy. For those under the age of 18, a parent or guardian must be involved in the registration process to ensure eligibility.

Deadline

The application window is currently open, with the process starting directly on the World Literacy Foundation’s official website.

Interested youths must navigate to the “Apply Now” page to follow the step-by-step instructions and submit their materials.

Prospective ambassadors must act quickly, as the final deadline for all applications is May 12, 2026.

The program is scheduled to officially kick off on June 8, with the first learning modules beginning shortly thereafter.
