Media professionals from across Sub-Saharan Africa are invited to apply for the InteRussia fellowship, an intensive program hosted in Moscow by the Sputnik International News Agency and Radio.

Scheduled to run from July 6 to August 1, 2026, the initiative offers a unique platform for journalists to explore Russia’s media agenda while exchanging expertise with international colleagues.

The program, part of the SputnikPro initiative, features a rigorous schedule of practical tutorials, workshops, and meetings with leading Russian media experts.

Participants will visit major research and educational platforms, gaining firsthand experience in various aspects of contemporary journalism.

Funding and benefits

Selected fellows will receive comprehensive travel support, including round-trip transportation from their place of residence to Moscow and medical insurance for the duration of the stay.

The organizers also provide accommodation in double hotel rooms and administrative visa support.

To assist with local expenses, each participant will receive a scholarship of 30,000 rubles.

However, journalists should note that they are responsible for covering their own meal costs and any applicable visa fees.

Application requirements and eligibility

The fellowship is open to journalists aged 25 to 40 currently working in print, digital, or audio media platforms.

Applicants must be citizens of a Sub-Saharan African country and reside outside the Russian Federation at the time of their application.

Candidates must demonstrate a minimum B2 level of proficiency in English, as this is the working language of the program.

Additionally, applicants cannot have any current academic or employment affiliations with Russian organizations or educational institutions.

To apply, candidates must register on the Gorchakov Fund website and complete the application for the “InteRussia Journalism Africa 2026” competition.

The process requires submitting a link to a professional portfolio and ensuring the application status updates to “Submitted”.
