Degussa Goldhandel and Monopol – Magazin für Kunst und Leben are officially hunting for the next big name in contemporary art with the launch of the Young Generation Art Award 2027.
This international competition aims to support “emerging artists” at the pivotal start of their professional journeys.
The award is designed to discover promising creators and introduce their work to a wider public.
A jury of industry experts will shortlist five artists who will then be featured in the pages of Monopol and invited to participate in a major group exhibition.
Funding and benefits
For the top-prize winner, the rewards are substantial: a €10,000 cash award and the chance to headline an international traveling exhibition.
This dual benefit provides both immediate financial support and long-term career momentum.
Recognition extends to all finalists, with the four non-winning shortlisted artists each receiving a €3,000 exhibition fee.
Additionally, every artist selected for the exhibition, including the winner, is eligible for a €500 production fee to help bring their vision to life.
Participants will also benefit from professional curation for an exhibition scheduled for Autumn 2026.
Throughout the event, all artworks are covered by an all-risk insurance policy maintained by the organizers.
Application requirements and eligibility
The call is open to international artists working in fine arts, photography, video, media, and installation art.
Applicants must be 35 years of age or younger, using May 30, 2026, as the reference cut-off date.
In a move to promote inclusivity, anacademic degree is not required to enter.
Interested artists must submit a digital portfolio in PDF format (under 8 MB), a professional biography, and a brief artist statement.
