The European Union Diplomatic Programme for the Enlargement Region has launched its second edition for the year, inviting applications from diplomats and foreign affairs professionals.

The fully funded programme will run from 31 August 2025 to 31 January 2026.

Programme Overview

Funded by the Directorate-General for Enlargement and Eastern Neighbourhood (DG ENEST) and implemented by the College of Europe, the initiative aims to foster regional cooperation among junior diplomats and foreign affairs officials from the Enlargement Region and their EU counterparts.

The programme also seeks to strengthen participants’ knowledge of EU affairs and foster a shared sense of professional identity.

The curriculum features joint activities with the EU Diplomatic Academy, supported by the European External Action Service (EEAS).

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must:

  • Be junior diplomats or officials working in foreign policy or EU accession from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Kosovo, the Republic of Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, Ukraine, or Türkiye

  • Be fluent in English (minimum C1 level according to CEFR)

  • Hold a university degree

  • Demonstrate knowledge or experience in EU affairs/accession

  • Submit an official letter from their employer authorizing participation for the full five-month period

  • (Optional) Have knowledge of French

  • Women are strongly encouraged to apply to promote gender balance
