The EU Delegation to the Republic of South Africa is inviting applications for its 2025 Funded Traineeship for Young Graduates. This six-month traineeship, starting in June 2025, will take place within the Political, Press, and Information Section of the EU Delegation in South Africa.

About the Traineeship

The selected trainee will contribute to the Delegation’s work on EU–South Africa relations within their thematic field and collaborate with colleagues from other sections as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze current and emerging dynamics in the EU-South Africa partnership.
  • Monitor political developments in South Africa and its foreign affairs, contributing to political reports.
  • Conduct short- and long-term research on topics related to foreign affairs, domestic politics, and human rights.
  • Compile information on EU legislation and policies relevant to South Africa for public dissemination.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Have the right to work in South Africa.
  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations, Law, Social Studies, Politics, Economics or a related field.
  • Have less than one year of professional experience.
  • Be a citizen of South Africa or a national of an EU Member State that has signed an accession agreement.
