Graduates with a background in mathematics are invited to apply for the 2025–2026 MoMath Exponent Fellowship, a prestigious, year-long opportunity in the United States.

The National Museum of Mathematics (MoMath), organisers of the fellowship, welcomes applications from graduating math majors for this highly selective and paid position. Fellows will work closely with the museum’s staff, engage the public, and deepen their mathematical understanding.

Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate mathematical knowledge during exhibitions and public interactions.

  • Develop outreach and communication skills.

  • Broaden and enrich mathematical expertise.

  • Network with leading mathematics scholars from around the world.

  • Collaborate with MoMath’s senior leadership and Visiting Professor.

Benefits:

Fellows will receive approximately $52,000 in total compensation:

  • Around $47,000 paid over the course of the program.

  • A $5,000 completion bonus at the end of the fellowship.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • A bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in mathematics with a minimum 3.5 GPA.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Creativity and enthusiasm for math.

  • A passion for sharing the joy of mathematics.

  • Must be authorised to work in the U.S. for 14 months without visa sponsorship from the museum.

  • A cover letter explaining your qualifications.

  • A current résumé, including your GPA.

  • A one-page personal statement on your views of mathematics or a math-related life experience.

  • Three letters of reference: two from college math professors and one from a recent manager or supervisor. (These should be sent directly by your referees to the email above.)

Deadline:

Applications are due by May 15, 2025. However, the application window may close earlier if all fellowship spots are filled. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis—early submission is strongly encouraged.
