The Open Africa Power Program 2025 is a fully funded initiative by Enel Foundation and Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL). It is designed for young African professionals interested in driving the continent’s energy transition.
Along with 500 alumni, this year’s edition will engage with 80 African students, comprising at least 50% women, in a series of professional development and leadership activities provided in partnership with top academic institutions in Italy and across Africa.
The programme’s online and residential modules are drawn from academic institutions such as the University of Cape Town—Graduate School of Business (”UCT”), African School of Regulation, Politecnico di Torino, Politecnico di Milano, and SDA Bocconi.
The programme will be composed of the following:
An Africa-based Module: A 24-hour online module exploring the fundamentals of the global electricity sector and focusing on sustainable development goals, energy technologies, regulation and gender balance.
External Online Course: A policy and regulatory framework course for sustainable energy, with certification upon completion.
Italian Residential Week: Site visits, interactive sessions and opportunities to network with leaders in academia, business and policy.
Online Italian Module: Courses on energy innovation and transition from top Italian universities.
Eligibility Criteria
To be selected for the Open Africa Power Program, applicants must be:
Aged 24-35 by April 14, 2025
African citizens resident (or planning to return) in—or planning to return to—Africa.
Graduates with PhDs, MBAs, or master’s degrees (at least one from an African university).
Proficient in English (C1 level)
Committed to working in the electricity and clean energy sector
Dedicated to promoting gender equality in energy leadership
Selected applicants will join a network of 500+ alumni and global energy experts, gain international exposure with career opportunities, and help to shape Africa’s clean energy future with hands-on experience and world-class training.
