The Worthington Companies Foundation has opened applications for the West Africa Clean Cooking Fund, aimed at transforming cooking practices in West Africa, where most people still depend on traditional biomass fuels for cooking.
The Foundation aims to tackle health effects on women and environmental challenges coming with deforestation.
A US$1 million acceleration fund is available for the project. Eligible initiatives include behavior-change campaigns, consumer education, consumer financing, and women’s empowerment.
Eligible countries include Benin, Burkina Faso, Cabo Verde, Côte d’Ivoire, The Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone and Togo.
Who qualifies?
– Registered NGOs and local organizations with strong financial stability and proven experience in community outreach or clean energy projects
– Government organisations are welcome but will not be funded.
Selected implementers must submit quarterly progress reports covering distribution metrics, training sessions, and community engagement. All project expenses must strictly adhere to the predefined budget limits set by the fund.
