Africans pursuing higher education in any English-speaking African country can now apply for the Providence Memorial Undergraduate Scholarship. The scholarship, provided by the Providence Ebubechi Memorial Foundation, offers up to $250 yearly, renewable for up to four years based on academic progress and good conduct. This amounts to a total scholarship fund of $1,000, used for tuition, room, or board expenses.

Eligibility Criteria

This scholarship is open to Black or African students studying in English-speaking African countries. Candidates must be currently enrolled in or intend to attend an accredited undergraduate program.

The best candidates are those who demonstrate academic excellence and leadership potential, strong commitment to their community, display integrity and resilience, and provide proof of financial barriers in pursuit of higher education

How to apply

–   Get a recommendation letter from your teacher, professor, lecturer, community leader, or church leader.

–    Provide proof that you have been enrolled or accepted into an undergraduate program in an eligible African country upon selection.

–   Provide your most recent academic transcript from your secondary school or university.

– Write and submit a personal essay of between 500 and 750 words on the topic, “How do you hope to create a legacy of compassion, faith, and dedication through your education, career, and personal life?”

If successful, to qualify to renew the scholarship yearly, you must maintain good academic records, demonstrate satisfactory conduct and character within the university and community, and submit an updated academic transcript and a brief progress report annually.
