The Nigeria Health Watch Solutions Journalism West Africa Fellowship is inviting applications from journalists, filmmakers, and media practitioners.

The four-month programme is designed to strengthen the practice of solutions-oriented health reporting across West Africa. It is part of the broader Solutions Journalism Africa Initiative (SJAI) and will support 10 outstanding health journalists from the region.

Fellowship Benefits

Selected fellows will receive comprehensive training and support to produce in-depth, evidence-based stories that highlight impactful health solutions and other development issues.

Who can Apply

Interested applicants must:

  • Reside in a West African country (all fellowship activities will be conducted in English).
  • Possess strong investigative journalism, storytelling, and research skills
  • Have at least three years of journalism experience (exceptional early-career applicants may be considered).
  • Be affiliated with a radio, television, or digital media outlet (freelancers must provide a letter of support from a reputable platform willing to publish/broadcast their stories).
  • Have experience in solutions-oriented reporting.
  • Commit to participating in all aspects of the programme, including mandatory workshops, mentorship sessions, and meeting deadlines.
  • Provide a letter of commitment from their affiliated media house.
  • Be new to the Solutions Journalism Africa Initiative (SJAI).

Applications must be submitted by May 30, 2025, and applicants new to the SJAI are prioritized.
