The Federal Government of Nigeria, through the Presidential Implementation Committee on Technology Transfer/Information Exchange (PICTT), has launched the Developing Engineering Leaders Through Her (DELT-Her) initiative to empower young female engineers across the country.

This programme was established following a bilateral agreement between the Nigerian government and the Czech Republic, aimed at promoting the adoption and deployment of technological solutions across various sectors of the Nigerian economy.

DELT-Her is designed to address gender imbalance in the engineering field by creating opportunities for women to develop innovative engineering ideas. These ideas will be supported, mentored, and nurtured into viable startup companies.

Objectives

  • To foster a more inclusive and diverse engineering landscape in Nigeria.

  • To build a collaborative network of stakeholders—including tertiary institutions, businesses, and industry leaders—that supports and empowers women in engineering.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Applicants must be Nigerian females between the ages of 23 and 45.

  • Must hold a minimum of a first degree in engineering or a related field.

  • Must have a well-developed proposal featuring innovative engineering ideas, along with a team ready for implementation. To qualify for funding, each team must be composed of at least 60% female members.
