Nature lovers

around the world have a new opportunity to turn their passion into community action through the Wild Wonder Foundation.

The organization has officially opened applications for its 2026 Club Micro Grant program, a global initiative designed to foster nature connection and conservation through the art and science of journaling.

Funding and benefits

The program offers two distinct funding tiers to help community leaders build local journaling groups.

“Seed” grants provide $300 to help launch brand-new nature journaling clubs, while “Sprout” grants offer $500 to expand existing groups or revive those that have gone dormant.

These micro grants are part of a larger effort that expects to award between 30 and 40 club-focused grants this year.

Funding for the program is largely grassroots, sourced from generous donations within the global nature journaling community to support outreach to new and underserved audiences.

Beyond the financial award, recipients gain significant visibility within the foundation’s international network.

The Wild Wonder Foundation may feature selected projects on their website and social media platforms, helping local leaders share their conservation stories and attract new members.

Application requirements and eligibility

The application process is open to individuals worldwide, with priority given to clubs that reach communities with limited existing access to nature journaling.

To ensure a level playing field for all applicants, a team of board members and volunteers reviews all submissions through an anonymized process.

Prospective applicants must submit a comprehensive club plan that includes a six-month timeline and specific metrics for success, such as membership targets.

Candidates are also required to demonstrate relevant leadership experience and provide professional references who can vouch for their ability to lead the project.

To assist with the process, the foundation provides a dedicated Application Worksheet to help candidates draft and polish their proposals before final submission.

It is important to note that individuals are limited to one application per year and cannot apply for both a Project and a Club grant in the same calendar cycle.

Deadline

The clock is ticking for interested journalers, as applications for the 2026 Club Micro Grants are due by May 29, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. Pacific Time.

Successful applicants will be notified of the decision via email approximately five to six weeks after the deadline, with grant awards officially announced on July 1.
