The Industrial Infrastructure Challenge 2026 has officially launched, inviting global innovators to help bridge the gap between legacy systems and a sustainable energy future.
Under the theme “Retrofit, Capture, Automate,” the program seeks to transform existing industrial foundations through high-tech solutions in hydrogen, carbon management, and automation.
Participants will have the rare opportunity to work directly with global energy and infrastructure players, including ExxonMobil, Ontras, and the Carbon Concrete Composite Cluster Saxony.
These partnerships are designed to implement technology alongside industry leaders to solve real-world challenges in infrastructure transformation.
Funding and benefits
Selected startups and scale-ups can secure industry leaders as potential clients through collaborative pilot projects.
This direct pipeline to major corporations offers a fast track for technology implementation and essential market validation.
Beyond client acquisition, the program provides access to the SpinLab network, one of Europe’s top startup hubs, along with professional coaching and financial support.
Finalists will also have the chance to pitch to a jury of experts and investors at the program’s final event.
Application requirements and eligibility
The search is global, targeting startups and scale-ups with solutions for specific sub-challenges, such as modular pipeline retrofitting or next-generation carbon capture (CCU/S).
Innovative concepts for “Carbon-to-X” utilization and autonomous inspection tools are also highly sought after.
Eligible applicants must demonstrate projects or references that address critical industry bottlenecks, such as fire-proofing carbon concrete construction or integrating digital twins for real-time monitoring.
Additionally, all participants must be prepared to pitch their solutions during the mandatory **Demo Day in Leipzig, Germany.
Deadline
Interested founders must act quickly, as the official window for applications closes on May 6th.
Submissions are processed via the F6S platform, and a successful application automatically qualifies teams for consideration in future SpinLab accelerator programs.
For those requiring further guidance, a Q&A session is available to walk applicants through the specific sub-challenge requirements and the selection process.
Following the May cutoff, the final pitch event is scheduled for June 3, 2026, where the next generation of industrial infrastructure will take center stage.
