The Henry Moore Foundation has officially opened its latest round of grants designed to support the development of sculpture across historical, modern, and contemporary registers.

This initiative seeks to fund projects and research that broaden public appreciation for the medium on a global scale.

From international exhibitions to specialized academic research, the Foundation provides essential support for the arts community.

These grants are intended to assist both non-profit organizations and individual scholars in advancing how sculpture is produced, interpreted, and preserved.

Funding and benefits

Financial support is divided into specific categories, with New Projects and Commissions and Acquisitions and Collectionseligible for grants up to £20,000.

Long-term research projects can also qualify for up to £20,000, while conferences and sculpture-related publications may receive up to £5,000.

For individual sculpture historians and conservators, Research and Travel grants of up to £2,500 are available to cover costs such as archival access and photography.

Furthermore, the Henry Moore Institute in Leeds offers visiting fellowships that include a month of facility use alongside travel and subsistence expenses.

Application requirements and eligibility

The Foundation invites applications from UK and international non-profit organizations for projects ranging from exhibition catalogues to the conservation of existing collections.

Community-based project applications are also considered when submitted by non-profit arts organizations.

Individual academics and historians may apply for research-specific categories, but the Foundation does not accept applications from artists seeking to develop their own practice.

Additionally, funding is not available for residency programs, commercial publishing, or general building and central costs.

Deadline

The Foundation operates four distinct application windows annually, Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter, to provide year-round funding opportunities.

Applicants must register via the Flexi-Grant portal at least one week before their intended deadline to be eligible for that round.

The current Spring deadline is set for March 1 at 23:00 GMT, targeting projects that begin no earlier than July.

Subsequent deadlines for the year fall on June 1, September 1, and December 1, ensuring multiple entry points for diverse sculptural initiatives.
