The Watson Institute has announced a global call for applications for the Enlight Fellowship, an initiative aimed at backing rising leaders who are tackling the world’s youth mental wellbeing crisis.

This 16-week program, powered by the Enlight Foundation, seeks to empower entrepreneurs with the tools and networks needed to scale their social impact.

Scheduled to run from August 17 to December 18, 2026, the fellowship bridges the gap between grassroots innovation and global sustainability.

It offers a unique blend of virtual workshops and intensive in-person networking for those committed to driving meaningful change in their communities.

Funding and benefits

The program is fully funded through the support of the Enlight Foundation, covering training and mentorship costs for all selected participants.

Fellows will kick off their journey with a week-long immersive experience, choosing between two locations: Boulder, Colorado, or Qingshan Village in Hangzhou, China.

Beyond travel opportunities, the fellowship provides expert-led business workshops and personalized life coaching. Organizers report that past participants have seen a 67% average increase in income post-fellowship, highlighting the program’s focus on long-term venture sustainability and financial growth.

A distinctive feature includes the “Basecamp” requirement, where fellows receive a stipend to design and lead local workshops.

This ensures that the leadership skills and frameworks gained during the program are immediately reinvested back into the fellows’ own entrepreneurial ecosystems.

Application requirements and eligibility

Eligible candidates must be at least 18 years old and lead a business or organization that has been active for one to five years.

These ventures should have fewer than 10 employees and demonstrate measurable results through existing customers, revenue, or secured grants.

Applicants must be able to commit to the full 16-week schedule, which includes mandatory virtual workshops held three days a week.

The cohort will include a diverse mix of youth leaders, specifically those focused on mental health challenges within China as well as those addressing global wellbeing.

Deadline

The priority application window closes on July 5, 2026, followed by a series of 20-minute Zoom interviews for selected finalists.

Enrollment decisions will be finalized by July 20, 2026, giving successful candidates time to prepare for the program’s official launch in mid-August.
