Applications are now open for the Holohil Grant Programme (HGP), which provides essential support for global wildlife conservation and education initiatives. The program offers Holohil transmitters—used for tracking and studying animals—at reduced or no cost to qualifying projects with high conservation value.
Since its inception, HGP has primarily supported bat and raptor research. Today, it invites a broader range of applicants working on underrepresented species, provided the projects demonstrate scientific rigour and clear conservation impact.
Funding Details
Each quarter, selected projects will receive up to CAD $2,500 worth of Holohil transmitters.
Eligible Projects
HGP supports projects that:
-
Rely significantly on Holohil transmitters for data collection.
-
Advance scientific knowledge of species and ecosystems.
-
Contribute meaningfully to conservation outcomes.
-
Educate or engage the public—especially youth.
-
Focus on understudied or under-represented species with high research or conservation value.
Who Can Apply?
-
Conservation professionals
-
Scientists and researchers
-
Educators and informed non-scientists
-
Applicants from any country are welcome
Evaluation Criteria
Applications will be evaluated based on:
-
Need: The project’s reliance on Holohil transmitters
-
Project Design: Realistic timeline and sound methodology
-
Public Education: Especially outreach involving young people
-
Scientific Merit: Potential for peer-reviewed research
-
Conservation Scope: Overall environmental impact
-
Project Potential: Catalyst for further research or outreach
-

The Holohil Grant Program (HGP) is currently accepting applications for projects focused on wildlife conservation and education. HGP provides Holohil transmitters, essential for tracking and studying animals, at a significantly reduced cost, or free, to projects with high conservation value involving underrepresented species. Each quarter, selected projects can receive up to CAD $2,500 worth of transmitters.
Eligible projects must demonstrate reliance on Holohil transmitters, advance scientific knowledge, contribute to conservation, engage the public, and focus on understudied species. Conservation professionals, scientists, researchers, educators, and informed non-scientists from any country are encouraged to apply. Evaluation criteria include the need for the project, sound project design, educational outreach, scientific merit, environmental impact, and more.
Applications can be downloaded online and must be submitted via email, with a maximum length of 500 words. The program reviews applications quarterly, with a current submission deadline of October 15, 2025.
