The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation welcomes innovative proposals using artificial intelligence to enhance disease modelling in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). This initiative seeks to fund projects that address challenges like data gaps while helping public health officials make more timely and effective decisions.

Benefits

Selected projects will receive a grant of USD $100,000 for a period of up to 12 months in Phase I. Successful projects from the first phase may be considered for additional funding in a second phase, providing a pathway for continued development and impact.

Eligibility

  • Non-profit organizations and for-profit companies
  • Academic institutions
  • Government agencies and multilateral organizations

Requirements

Applicants are required to submit a concise, two-page proposal outlining their project idea, relevant expertise and execution plan. The proposal must clearly describe how the proposed AI-driven approach will improve upon an existing disease modelling effort for a specific public health use case in an LMIC.
