iMEdD, a non-profit newsroom with a focus on media education and development, is inviting young journalists and recent graduates with little or no experience in journalism to apply for its Incubator for Media Education and Development Young Journalists (YOJO) programme.

The organisation is searching for the next generation of reporters who will shape the future of independent journalism. The internship offers a one- or two-year paid placement opportunity to recent graduates from all over the world at their cutting-edge newsroom in Athens, Greece.

Internship structure

–    As a young journalist, you will cover unfolding events on the ground in Greece and abroad, with real-time reporting opportunities, and learn from top industry professionals and mentors.

–   You will produce important stories on a range of beats, from political to enterprise, international, and conflict reporting.

–   You will also learn the skills for engaging content design in the digitage.ge

–   You will also have the chance to experiment with different tools and approaches to storytelling, including AR, VR, and XR,  and data journalism.
Eligibility Criteria 

–  The internship is for those who have concluded their undergraduate or graduate studies within the last 18 months, counting from October 2023, or final-year students from around the world.

– You must be able to speak English fluently.

–   You must not have worked in a newsroom, as no newsrooms experience is required—just a strong sense of curiosity and commitment to ethical, impactful journalism.

–   You must be willing to relocate to Athens and thrive in a dynamic newsroom environment.

What you need to apply

Fill out the online form and submit it alongside your CV, a short 90-second personal video statement in English or Greek, and 2-3 work samples (links to articles, videos, projects, or academic work).

Also have ready contacts for two references; a brief description of your long-term goals; a brief description of the issues you would like to report on; a brief description of why you want to work at YOJO; a brief description of your outlook on the role of journalism.
