The RESONANCE residency programme is inviting Nigerian-based creatives to apply for a prestigious three-month stay in Paris.

This annual initiative, co-constructed by the Cité internationale des arts, ART X Lagos, and the French Embassy in Nigeria, aims to foster mobility and expand the professional networks of actors within the Nigerian art scene.

Funding and benefits

Selected participants will receive a fully financed residency experience located on the Marais site of the Cité internationale des arts.

The program provides a monthly living allowance of 1,200 euros and covers travel costs to and from the French capital.

Beyond financial support, residents are provided with a dedicated live-in-studio and professional mentorship from a France-based expert.

This mentorship is designed to facilitate deep dialogue regarding artistic, curatorial, and design practices while offering unique networking opportunities.

Application requirements and eligibility.

The call is open to practitioners of all nationalities, provided they live and work in Nigeria and are over 23 years old as of January 1, 2026.

Requirements vary by discipline: curators must justify at least five years of experience, while visual artists require at least two.

Designers must demonstrate a professional commitment to their practice, whether in furniture, digital, or print media.

All applicants must possess a valid passport and be able to commit fully to the residency periods scheduled between October 2026 and January 2027.

Candidates must submit a comprehensive resume, a portfolio of representative work, and a specific research focus statement outlining their goals.

The jury will pay particular attention to the quality of the research project and the applicant’s interest in connecting with French professional networks.

Deadline

Interested creatives can submit their applications starting May 7, 2026.

The application window will close on May 31, 2026, leaving candidates a limited time to finalize their project proposals.

This residency represents a significant opportunity for Nigerian artists to join a global cohort at the Cité internationale des arts.

Successful applicants will gain unprecedented access to the Parisian art world through organized visits and institutional partnerships.
