About the Fellowship

The One World Media (OWM) Fellowship nurtures the next generation of media professionals by providing financial support, mentoring, and access to a global network of industry leaders and peers.

Who Can Apply

Applicants must:

  • Be mid-career journalists or filmmakers from the Global South

  • Have access to sources and the capacity to deliver the proposed story

What Kind of Projects Are Eligible?

  • Stories in pre-production that highlight underreported issues in low- and middle-income countries.

  • Non-fiction work across platforms: film, print, audio, photojournalism, and multimedia.

  • Projects with the majority of the budget in place or achievable within a short timeframe.

  • Work that can be completed within a year (e.g., a 10-minute film, a 1,500-word article, a 30-minute audio/multimedia piece).

  • Stories suitable for publication or broadcast by reputable media outlets.

Application Guidelines

All proposals must:

  • Spotlight underreported stories that engage the intended audience

  • Amplify voices from the Global South, especially those rarely heard

  • Include confirmed contributors or sources

  • Address safety, accountability, and ethical reporting practices

  • Demonstrate ethical filmmaking, especially in interactions with contributors
