Ras Al Khaimah Art has officially launched its search for local and international artists to join a prestigious six-month residency program.
This initiative aims to foster meaningful engagement with the local community while providing a platform for creative talent to produce work inspired by the United Arab Emirates.
The program is designed as a catalyst for cross-cultural exchange, allowing artists to share their skills through educational programs and contribute to the region’s sustainable creative growth.
Participants will conclude their stay by presenting a solo exhibition at the annual Ras Al Khaimah Art Festival and donating one created work to the Foundation.
Funding and benefits
To support this creative journey, the Al Qasimi Foundation offers a grant capped at 61,000 AED.
This comprehensive financial package is intended to cover essential travel expenses, including airfare and car rentals, as well as accommodation, visa fees, and a dedicated living stipend.
Beyond basic living costs, the funding provides crucial support for the artistic process itself.
Artists can utilize the grant to purchase materials, rent specialized equipment, and pay for professional services or translations necessary to bring their unique projects to life.
Application requirements and eligibility
The call is open to individual practicing artists and filmmakers, aged 21 and over, working in media ranging from drawing and sculpture to textiles and film.
Applicants should hold a degree in fine arts or possess an equivalent established portfolio demonstrating their expertise.
Eligible candidates must have a proven track record, including participation in at least one solo or two group exhibitions within the last three years.
Additionally, they must demonstrate experience in teaching or helping others explore art through hands-on workshops and activities.
Prospective residents must submit a detailed application through the Foundation’s portal, including a professional CV, a portfolio of recent work, and a Statement of Intent.
This statement should outline specific residency goals, proposed workshops, and concepts for their final solo exhibition.
Deadline
The window for the 2026 submission cycle is currently open, with a firm closing deadline of June 1, 2026.
After a competitive review and interview process, finalists can expect a formal decision regarding their status within 6 to 8 weeks of the deadline.
