The Asian Development Bank-Japan Scholarship Program (JSP) is inviting applications for its 2025 postgraduate scholarship.
The scholarship is open to 135 graduates with backgrounds in the following fields:
- Science and Technology
- Economics, Business and Management
- Development Studies
- Law and Public Policy

- For scholars engaged in research, a special grant may be available for thesis preparation. In special circumstances, computer literacy, preparatory language and other similar courses may be covered under the scholarship
To be eligible, applicants must:
- Be a national of an ADB borrowing member country and Japanese ODA scholarship-eligible country
- Not hold dual citizenship of any developed country;
- Have gained admission to an approved master’s course at a designated institution.
- Hold a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent with a brilliant academic record;
- Have at least two (2) years of full-time professional working experience (acquired after a university degree) at the time of application.
- Have proficiency in oral and written English communication skills.
- Not be more than 35 years old at the time of application, unless waived in exceptional cases with the expressed endorsement of the Government of Japan;
- Be in good health;
- Agree to return and work in their home country for at least two (2) years after completion of studies under the Program in order to contribute to its development
Applications are welcome from the following countries:
Afghanistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, Cook Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Fiji, Georgia, India, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Kiribati, Kyrgyz Republic, Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Malaysia, Maldives, Marshall Islands, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nauru, Nepal, Niue, Pakistan, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Sri Lanka, Tajikistan, Thailand, Timor-Leste, Tonga, Turkmenistan, Tuvalu, Uzbekistan, Vanuatu and Viet Nam.

The Asian Development Bank-Japan Scholarship Program (JSP) for 2025 is now accepting applications for postgraduate scholarships available to 135 graduates from fields such as Science and Technology, Economics, Business and Management, Development Studies, and Law and Public Policy. The scholarship covers full tuition, a monthly subsistence allowance, instructional materials, medical insurance, travel expenses, and possibly additional grants for research or special preparatory courses.
Eligible applicants must be nationals of an ADB borrowing member or Japanese ODA scholarship-eligible country, hold a bachelor's degree, have a strong academic record, and at least two years of professional experience. They should also be proficient in English, under 35 years old (age exceptions possible), in good health, and willing to return and contribute to their home country for two years post-study.
