The African Climate Foundation (ACF) is urgently seeking to hire a senior programme manager based in Nigeria. ACF works to support interventions that promote climate solutions and development efforts with long-term socio-economic impact. In Nigeria, it has been working with local partners to ensure Nigeria’s energy transition and build climate resilience strategies.
With a new target to expand across vital areas like climate adaptation, sustainable land use, green industrialisation, and transportation, ACF wants the senior programme manager to work closely with its Nigeria Country Manager and other programme teams to drive “the strategic development and implementation of ACF’s Nigeria programmes,” it said.

Potential candidates must have a master’s degree or its equivalent in economics, environmental sciences, development studies, public policy, or related fields; 6-8 years of experience in programme design, management, or related roles; experience working with or supporting government institutions, donors, and financial entities on large-scale projects or policy initiatives; a strong experience in managing grants; and should be familiar with policy advocacy and stakeholder engagement in Nigeria.
Other requirements are strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills; possession of sophisticated writing, reporting, and communication skills; fluency in English language; excellent organizational and time management abilities; and high levels of professionalism, integrity, and attention to detail.
Responsibilities
The responsibilities include supporting the revision and updating of ACF’s Nigeria Strategy and implementation plan; identifying and overseeing sector-relevant research and analysis; and collaborating with other ACF programme staff to ensure synergies, integration, and cross-programme learning.
The senior programme manager will also work with the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) Manager to ensure effective monitoring, reporting, and evaluation of its programme. He is also expected to foster partnership with stakeholders, work to implement ACF’s grant making processes, and work with other team members in fund-raising.
Start date: Based on the successful applicants’ availability.
Location: Remote, but the candidate must be based in Nigeria.
Contract duration: 12 months (renewable based on mutual agreement).
