Her Voice Foundation, an NGO dedicated to empowering teenage mothers and at-risk girls in Cross River State, has launched its EMPOWER Project, aimed at transforming lives through education and entrepreneurship.

The launch event, held recently at the scenic Scenic Games Centre, Obudu Ranch Resort in Obanliku LGA of Cross River State, brought together prominent figures including royal leaders, expert trainers, and supportive well-wishers, all united in their commitment to creating positive change.

Supported by Project Nightfall Philanthropy, the initiative focuses on empowering 50 survivors of forced marriages through an intensive 4-month entrepreneurship training programme. Participants will receive essential start-up kits upon completion, paving their way towards economic independence and self-reliance.

Favour Abatang, Executive Director of Her Voice Foundation, emphasized the significance of the EMPOWER Project, describing it as a transformative journey for the participants, reaffirming their worth and potential in society.

“The launch of the Empower Project marks a crucial step in our mission to combat forced marriages and uplift survivors. This initiative holds immense potential to change lives, reminding each participant of their intrinsic value and ability to achieve self-sufficiency,” said Abatang.

Agon Hare, founder of Project Nightfall Philanthropy, underscored the urgency of educating girls globally, stating, “Education is pivotal in breaking the cycle of poverty and abuse. It is imperative that we empower girls with the tools they need to thrive, ensuring no society is left behind.”

Co-founder Sonya Mulkeet echoed these sentiments, stressing that women should never be commodified. “Women are not commodities to be traded; their worth is immeasurable. We must collectively advocate for their respect and value in every community,” said Mulkeet.

Speaking on behalf of CIBA Hospitality at the Ranch Resort, Ofure Imiemohon congratulated the beneficiaries and encouraged them to seize the opportunity presented by Her Voice Foundation. “This is a wonderful opportunity for you to excel. We pledge our support and look forward to seeing your businesses flourish,” said Imiemohon.

HRH Sunday Ichille, Clan Head of Becheve Community in Obanliku LGA, expressed gratitude to Her Voice Foundation for fostering meaningful partnerships to support survivors. “Your commitment to extending the training period demonstrates your genuine concern for the welfare of survivors,” said Ichille, acknowledging the Foundation’s dedication to making a lasting impact.
