APC endorse Akpabio for Senate President, Abass for Speaker HOR

Nigeria’s ruling party, the All Progressive Congress or APC has announced that it has zoned the various leadership positions in Nigeria’s national assembly.

In a press statement signed by Barr. Felix Morka, the National Publicity Secretary of the party, it was revealed that the National Working Committee of the party met on Monday, May 8, 2023, to consider reports of consultations and meetings held with the party leadership and that the meeting birth the zoning arrangement.

The APC also advised all parties to continue consultations with necessary stakeholders in order to assure the support of the aspirants to the National Assembly leadership positions and members of the party nationwide.

The party zoned the Senate presidency to Godswill Akpabio from Akwa Ibom State, with  Barau Jibrin from Kano picked as his deputy. For the green chamber, Hon. Abass Tajudeen from Kaduna was selected, as the speaker with Hon. Ben Kalu from Abia picked as his deputy speaker.

“We urge our party leaders, members, and all Nigerians, to continue to work for peace and progress of our country during and beyond the current period of leadership transition,” Felix said.
