Nine transmission towers belonging to the Transmission Company of Nigeria or TCN supplying power to Abeokuta, Ogun State, have been vandalised, this is according to a statement by the company.

In the statement signed by Ndidi Mbah, GM of Public Affairs, the company said it discovered the collapsed towers “after a tripping was recorded, and a team was dispatched to trace the fault.”

TCN added that the collapsed towers have led to Abeokuta and its environs being out of power but that the company is working to “supply bulk electricity through an alternative line, to enable Ibadan DisCo to distribute electricity to its customers whose supply is affected by the incident.”

TCN stated that the vandalised towers are from Tower 56 to 65 “along Papalanto/Abeokuta 132kV transmission line.

Mojeed Akintola, General Manager, Lagos Region of the company condemned the activities of the vandals, adding that ‘resources that would have been used to further improve the grid infrastructure in Ogun State would now be used to replace the vandalised towers.
