Kayode Ayobami said he is a recipient of a lot of acts of kindness, many of which he would probably never speak about but daily remains grateful for.
Among these acts, one in particular left him with a lasting impression. It occurred on the night of October 11 2023, when he hurried to a provision shop at the Teaching Hospital of Usmanu Danfodiyo University in Nigeria’s Sokoto State.
Ayobami went to purchase a loaf of bread, priced at N300, and at this shop, payment was typically made through mobile transfers. However, as he was about to complete the mobile transfer, the seller informed him that they were no longer accepting this mode of payment, causing concern to appear on Ayobami’s face.
As Ayobami tried to persuade the seller to accept the mobile transfer, a kind stranger intervened. This stranger, described as a man, understood the situation and took a N600 loaf of bread, giving N1000 to the seller, covering the cost for Ayobami.
“The seller and I couldn’t help but smile as I expressed my gratitude and offered a few prayers to the kind man,” Ayobami said.
That night, Ayobami returned to his room, deeply moved by the unexpected act of kindness. He couldn’t forget how a stranger had come to his aid when he was desperately hungry.
“Imagine a stranger coming to your rescue without hesitation?” Ayobami stressed.
This encounter reminded him that there are kind-hearted people in the world who find joy in making others feel special.
Kindness has a profound impact on Ayobami. Today, he aspires to pay this kindness forward with all his heart. “I aim to outdo the kindness I have experienced, and I hope to achieve that as time unfolds,” he concluded.
