Two men wanted for rape of minors in Ogun, killer of Kwara Poly student arrested

The Police Command in Ogun State says they are on the trail of two who are suspected to have raped two minors in the State.

The police said one of the victims, a 12-year-old pupil of Reverend Kuti Memorial Grammar School, Abeokuta, was allegedly defiled by a yet-to-be-identified man in the Isabo area of Abeokuta.

The 12-year-old victim and her sister were said to have been roaming the street after their parents had  sent them away from home for an unknown offence.

While still roaming the street looking for shelter, the suspect invited them to his house for shelter, where she was raped that night, and then she and her sister were sent away in the morning by the suspect.

Punch Metro gathered that the principal of the school, who became aware of the incident, approached the Ibara Police Division in the area along with the victim to report the crime.

Similarly, in Abule-Osho, Olambe area, a seven-year-old girl who had left her house to buy a snack was suspected to have been defiled by an unknown man.

The Police disclosed that the girl had left her grandmother’s house to buy a snack at a nearby shop before he was allegedly dragged to a nearby bush by an unknown man and defiled on Thursday.

The defilement resulted in uncontrollable bleeding from the minor’s private part and she was hurriedly rushed to the hospital for treatment.

Reacting to the crimes via a WhatsApp chat on Sunday, the Police Public Relations Officer in the State, Omolola Odutola, confirming both incidents said efforts were ongoing to apprehend the suspects. Adding that investigations and intelligence gathering are in full force.

In another development, the Police in Kwara State say they have arrested one suspect who killed a Higher National Diploma female student of the Federal Polytechnic, Offa, Kwara State, Toyin Bamidele.

Channels Television reports that the 23-year-old female student was allegedly hacked to death in a rented apartment located outside the polytechnic campus on Thursday, November 16, 2023.

And in a statement signed and made available to newsmen by the Commissioner of Police  Victor Olaiya, assured the the Command would get to the root of the matter, disclosing that the suspect is assisting in vital information in the case.

The incident was confirmed to journalists on Friday night by a spokesman for the institution, Folake Oyinloye, who said that the development was strange in the history of the institution.

The Kwara CP in a statement said: “Preliminary investigation at the scene revealed some marks of violence on the face and neck regions of the body.

“The body was removed to Wale Clinic and Hospital, where the deceased was certified dead by a medical practitioner.

“The body of the deceased has been deposited in the mortuary for autopsy.

“One suspect has been apprehended in connection with the case. He is presently helping the Police in the investigation.

“The command wishes to advise members of the public to be conscious and vigilant during this period, as evil men are prowling looking for what and who to devour.”

The Ogun State Police Command is actively pursuing two individuals suspected of raping two minors. One victim, a 12-year-old student, was lured and raped by an unidentified man, who later expelled her and her sister from his house. Similarly, in the Olambe area, a seven-year-old girl was reportedly dragged to a bush and raped by another unknown man, causing severe bleeding that required hospital treatment. Both incidents are under active investigation, according to the State's Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola.

In a separate case, the Kwara State Police have arrested a suspect connected to the murder of Toyin Bamidele, a 23-year-old Higher National Diploma student. She was found with marks of violence at her rented apartment near the Federal Polytechnic, Offa. Police Commissioner Victor Olaiya confirmed that the suspect is providing valuable information, and a thorough investigation is ongoing. The deceased's body has been sent for autopsy.
