GOT BAG, the German-based sustainable bag manufacturer, has announced the launch of its CARE COLLECTIVE FUND, a new global grant designed to empower those tackling the climate crisis and ocean pollution.
The initiative seeks to provide low-barrier funding for grassroots projects that often struggle to access traditional resources.
Funding and benefits
Selected projects will receive a grant of €10,000 to support their mission. This funding is intended to be utilized within a 12-month period to drive measurable change in local communities, with reporting required to track progress.
Beyond the financial support, the program includes a structured kick-off call in July to align goals and expectations.
Once the jury selects the winners, funds will be disbursed in August 2026 to allow projects to begin their work immediately.
Application requirements and eligibility
The fund is open to a wide range of organizations, including NGOs, foundations, and social enterprises.
Grassroots activists and academic research projects with a proven track record of impact are also encouraged to apply.
Proposed projects must align with at least one of three strategic pillars: the plastic life cycle, maritime ecosystems, or community care and climate resilience.
Conventional businesses and projects deemed to be “greenwashing” are strictly excluded from the application process.
While the grant is global in scope, GOT BAG has noted a preference for locally led initiatives in the Global South.
High-leakage regions, specifically Southeast Asia and coastal Africa, are of particular interest due to their vulnerability to plastic waste and climate change.
To apply, candidates must complete an online form and upload a detailed project budget plan in PDF or .xsl format.
The organizers emphasize that language should not be a barrier, offering assistance to those for whom English is not a first language during the application phase.
Deadline
The application window is currently open but will close promptly at midnight CEST on July 5, 2026.
Potential applicants are urged to review the specific eligibility criteria and point-based assessment system before submitting their materials.
