The Government of Canada has officially launched its 2026 call for applications for the Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI) in Angola.

This program is specifically designed to empower grassroots organizations by supporting small-scale, high-impact projects conceived and designed by local partners.

For this upcoming cycle, the fund is focusing its resources on initiatives that promote “growth that works for everyone”.

Canadian officials are particularly seeking projects that drive inclusive markets and entrepreneurship, aiming to foster sustainable economic participation within local communities.

Funding and benefits

Successful applicants can expect to receive an average contribution ranging from $30,000 to $50,000 Canadian Dollars.

While these are the standard amounts, the program allows for a maximum allocation of up to $100,000 CAD for projects that demonstrate exceptional local impact.

The grants are comprehensive, covering a variety of project-specific costs such as salaries, equipment, and training.

Additionally, the funding can be used for administrative overheads, office rent, and outreach activities, provided these expenses are directly integral to the project’s success.

Application requirements and eligibility

The program primarily targets local non-governmental and community-based organizations, as well as academic institutions.

International or regional agencies are also eligible to apply, provided they are working closely with local partners on projects that are community-oriented.

To be considered for funding, organizations must submit their proposals using the designated application form and include a detailed budget document.

All application materials must be completed in either English or French, and due to high demand, only successful candidates will be contacted.

In terms of timing, project activities are generally expected to be completed by February 28, 2027.

However, the embassy may permit more complex projects to extend their timeline into early 2028, depending on the specific objectives and nature of the activities.

Deadline

Organizations interested in this opportunity must submit their applications no later than May 14 at 23:59 (GMT +2).

All submissions and inquiries regarding the process should be sent to the official program email at CFLI-MPUTO@international.gc.ca.
