Startups looking to break into the pharmaceutical industry now have a clear path forward as the DayOne Accelerator opens applications for its 2026 cohort.

Based in Basel, Switzerland,a global hub home to industry giants like Roche and Novartis, this hybrid program aims to fast track early-stage ventures at the intersection of healthtech and pharma R&D.

The 12-week program is designed to help international founders refine their value propositions and facilitate direct connections with key industry players.

Participants gain unparalleled access to a world-class life sciences ecosystem while remaining entirely independent through a unique equity-free and fee-free model.

Funding and benefits

Selected startups receive over 12 hours of one-on-one mentoring from high-level pharma executives and specialized coaching from industry experts.

To support participation in mandatory in-person sessions in Basel, the accelerator provides a travel and accommodation grant of up to CHF 1,000.

Exceptional performance can lead to the “DayOne NEXT” extension program for up to three standout startups.

These winners receive CHF 50,000 in non-dilutive funding, an additional CHF 50,000 in personalized support, and 12 months of dedicated office space within the Switzerland Innovation Park Basel Area.

 Application requirements and eligibility

The call is open to international founders at the Pre-Seed to Series A stage who have raised less than $10 million in dilutive funding to date.

Applicants should be developing science-backed digital health or techbio solutions, such as AI-aided drug discovery or digital biomarkers, specifically aimed at enabling pharma R&D.

While the program welcomes a wide range of innovation, it does not support basic research, therapeutic molecule discovery, or drug development projects.

Successful candidates typically possess a prototype or product ready for pharma collaboration within 12 to 18 months and must demonstrate a strong commitment to the coaching process.

Deadline

Interested founders must submit their applications via the online platform by May 31, 2026, at 23:59 CET.

The selection process is highly competitive, with 40 shortlisted applicants invited for virtual interviews in late June before the final 15 startups are selected for the cohort.

The program officially kicks off with an in-person bootcamp in Basel on September 7, 2026. Prospective applicants seeking more information can also register for an “Ask Me Anything” webinar scheduled for May 7, 2026.
