The Google Student Researcher Programme invites students from around the world to join research projects tackling real-world, large-scale challenges.

Participants gain hands-on experience with cutting-edge technology, contribute to scientific innovation and collaborate across teams such as Google Research, Google DeepMind and Google Cloud.

Priority areas

The programme supports exploratory research across computer science and related disciplines, including:

Who can apply

Minimum qualifications

Applicants must be:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Linguistics, Statistics, Biostatistics, Applied Mathematics, Operations Research, Economics, Natural Sciences, or related fields

  • Experienced in at least one computer science area (e.g., ML, deep learning, HCI, computer vision, AI, data science, software engineering)

Preferred qualifications

  • Enrolled full-time in an accredited programme in EMEA and returning after the internship.

  • Previous research experience (lab work, internships, research projects).

  • Contributions to research communities through journal or conference publications.

  • Familiarity with programming languages such as C/C++, Java, Python, MATLAB or Go.

Applicants must submit only one application and include an updated CV/resume and an unofficial or official transcript in English.

Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis until February 26, 2026.

Candidates may also select their preferred location from Google’s global research hubs, including Zurich, Berlin, Munich, Grenoble, Paris, Accra, Nairobi and London.
