Urban Coalitions is calling for submissions for its 2025 Video Pitch Contest, an initiative designed to discover and support groundbreaking ideas that address challenges in city life.
The pitch contest aims to empower innovators who are developing collaborative projects to create more sustainable, inclusive, and resilient urban communities. The focus is on finding fresh, practical solutions that can make a real difference at a local level.
What are the benefits of the pitch contest?
Awards will recognize the best entries with cash prizes of USD 800 for the first-place winner, USD 500 for second place, and USD 300 for third place.
The top videos will be showcased at the 7th Capacity-building Hub during COP 30 in Belém, Brazil, and winners will also receive exclusive access to an online training on Transformative Communication to enhance the impact of their initiatives.
All finalists will benefit from expert mentorship and networking opportunities to help them refine their ideas and build connections in the field.
Who can apply?
This pitch contest is designed for young innovators with a passion for improving their cities. Both individuals and small teams are encouraged to apply, provided their project aligns with the contest’s vision and meets the specific eligibility rules.
To be eligible, an applicant must meet the following qualifications:
- The project lead must be between the ages of 18 and 35.
- The project must be a new idea or in a very early stage of development.
- The proposed solution must target a specific social or environmental issue in an urban area.
- Applicants must be from one of the partner cities listed on the Urban Coalitions website.
How to apply
The pitch contest requires participants to submit a video pitch and a short written story of 100–150 words.
Participants must create a 60-second video that clearly and creatively presents their project idea, its intended impact, and the team behind it.
Deadline
Aspiring participants should take note of the submission timeline. The official deadline for all applications, including the video pitch and online form, is 23:59 CEST on 24 October 2025.
