Oyeyemi stated, "Our operatives have arrested Adeyemi Babatunde, a 28-year-old, over the alleged rape of his daughter. The victim, whose name is withheld, is five years old."

According to the police statement released on Thursday, the victim's mother reported the incident to the Police.

The Police said the mother said, "The victim informed her that her father laid her on the bed and inserted his manhood into her private part when the mother was not at home." Oyeyemi explained.

The Police said the suspect confessed to the crime and didn't know what had come over him.

In response to the incident, Olanrewaju Oladimeji, the Commissioner of Police, has ordered the transfer of the suspect to the anti-human trafficking and child labour section of the state criminal investigation department or CID.

Oyeyemi added, "The commissioner of police has ordered that the suspect be transferred for further investigation and prosecution."
