Innoson Vehicles award scholarship to student with highest score In 2023 UTME

Nigeria indigenous automobile manufacturer, Innoson Vehicles, has awarded Joy Ejikeme, a student of Anglican Girls Secondary School,  Nnewi a scholarship worth three million naira after she recorded the highest score in the just concluded Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination or UTME.

The company disclosed this on Monday, in a press statement signed by Cornel Osigwe Head, Corporate Communications of the group.

Osigwe said the gesture is to celebrate academic excellence and to fulfill the company's dedication to invest in the education of young Nigerians.

He also said that the scholarship will go a long way in providing financial support to Ejikeme, to enable her “pursue her tertiary education with ease in the next five years.”

The young record breaker expressed gratitude to Innocent Chukwuma, the Chairman of the group while promising to make him proud.

Ejikeme is an indigene of Enugu State who resides with her Father in Nnewi, Anambra State, and emerged as the overall best student in the 2023 UTME with a score of 362, out of 400, scoring  98 in English Language, 89 in Physics, 94 in Biology, and 81 in Chemistry.

The statement noted that the company will continue to demonstrate its commitment to social responsibility through various initiatives, including scholarship awards, job creation, and support for local communities.

The UTME is a required test for Nigerian students who wish to pursue tertiary education. For many tertiary institutions in the country, the UTME is one of the mandatory tests to stand a  chance for admission. The second is widely regarded as an aptitude test or post-UTME.
