Muhammadu Buhari has signed the bill to create Almajiri National Commission.

The commission aims to provide the Almajiri and out-of-school children roaming the streets with a conducive learning environment, quality educational system, skills acquisitions, and empowering them through entrepreneurship programmes.

The bill was sponsored by Balarabe Shehu Kakale, The member representing Bodinga-Dange Shuni-Tureta federal constituency, and 18 others, and was earlier passed by the National Assembly.

The sponsor of the bill said it will also strengthen the Tsangaya system of education and improve the lives of the Almajiri children who are left on the streets without having access to education.

Congratulations to all stakeholders and citizens for this extraordinary feat to ensure justice, equity and inclusiveness in education in Nigeria where no child whether Almajiri or not shall ever be left behind again,” said Balarabe Kakale.

This bill signed by the outgoing president is seen as a parting gift for the millions of Almajiri and out-of-school children.

The other bills signed by Buhari on Sunday are the National Assembly Service Pensions Board (Establishment) and the Federal Road Safety Commission Training Institutions (Establishment).
