The Nigerian Army has revealed that it has rescued another two girls from the 276 girls abducted by Boko Haram from Government Secondary School, Chibok, nine years after.
Maj.- Gen. Ibrahim Ali, the Theater commander of North East Joint Operation disclosed this while briefing newsmen at the Maimalari Cantonment in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.
Ali said that Hauwa Malthus and Esther Marcus, with serial numbers 2 and 103 on the list of missing victims, were rescued on April 21, 2023, by the troops of 144 Taskforce Battalion Bitta at Lagara, under the 21 armored Brigade Bama during Operations.
“Hauwa Malthus, 26 years old and Kibaku by tribe from Chibok local Government of Borno state and was married at Goulakos, a village in Sambisa forest, to Salman, a cameraman to Abubakar Shekau”, he said.
He also added that “ Salman later died in Lake Chad and Hauwa Malthus got married again to one Mallam Muhammed in Gobara, and had 2 children for him who later died due to sickness. Muhammed her husband was also killed in Ubaka terrorist enclaves in Sambisa forest during clashes between Boko Haram/ ISWAP.
“Hauwa, who was heavily pregnant at the time of her rescue, delivered a bouncing baby boy on April 28, 2023, while undergoing medical examinations along with her baby Fatima at 7 Div Medical Hospital, and services”, he said
Ali explained that 26 years old Esther was forced to marry Garba, a Boko Haram fighter who was killed during troops’ offensive operations on terrorists’ enclaves. She was later forced to marry Abba, in Ubaka terrorist enclaves in Sambisa forest until she was rescued by troops of Operation Hadin Kai.
“Since their rescue, they have undergone thorough medical examination along with their babies who will be handed over to Borno state,” Ali said.
