This weekend’s film picks are packed with comedy, adrenaline-pumping action and family-friendly adventures. Whether you’re in the mood for Tyler Perry’s signature mayhem high-stakes road chases or a globe-trotting quest with Dora, there’s something to keep you hooked.

Madea’s Destination Wedding (Netflix)

Genre: Comedy

The iconic, no-nonsense grandmother is back—this time crashing an island wedding. With family secrets bubbling on a sun-kissed island, Madea navigates unruly relatives, wedding shenanigans and nonstop laughs. Classic Tyler Perry with a dash of drama and heart.

Almost cops (Netflix)

Genre: Action/Comedy

A disciplined special investigator is forced to team up with a disgraced reckless ex-detective to hunt a ruthless killer. As the odd pair stumble through bureaucratic red tape and ridiculous detours, expect buddy-cop chemistry and explosive laughs.

The Fire and the Moth (Prime Video)

Genre: Crime/Drama

After a smuggler escapes with a priceless Ife bronze head, tensions erupt in a gritty western Nigerian town. Gripping and atmospheric, this crime drama explores the fine line between protecting heritage and pursuing justice—with striking visuals to add.

Ice road vengeance (Prime Video)

Genre: Action

A brother’s final wish becomes a survival mission. While travelling to Nepal to sprinkle his brother’s ashes on Mount Everest, Mike’s bus trip turns deadly after an ambush by a group of violent mercenaries. With help from a rugged mountain guide, he must fight the elements—and his enemies—on a treacherous icy path.

Dora and the Quest for Sol Dorado (Paramount+)

Genre: Family/Adventure

This fun, dynamic twist on the classic explorer’s adventure sends Dora around the world to find the fabled golden city of Sol Dorado. Replete with puzzles, ancient traps, and vibrant cultural themes, it’s a heartwarming ride for kids and grownups. The movie is a standalone story, not a sequel to the 2019 Dora and the Lost City of Gold.

Isaac Atunlute's weekend film recommendations offer a variety of engaging entertainment across multiple genres, available on popular streaming platforms. "Madea's Destination Wedding" on Netflix delivers comedy through the beloved character Madea as she navigates family drama and chaos at an island wedding. "Almost Cops," also on Netflix, pairs a disciplined investigator with a former reckless detective in a mix of action and comedy as they pursue a ruthless killer amidst bureaucratic challenges.

On Prime Video, "The Fire and the Moth" is a gripping crime drama set in Nigeria, unfolding tensions in a community after a significant theft, while "Ice Road Vengeance" is an action-packed adventure featuring a treacherous journey in Nepal as a brother's wish leads to a battle against mercenaries and nature. Paramount+ presents "Dora and the Quest for Sol Dorado," offering family-friendly adventure as Dora embarks on a global quest filled with puzzles and cultural exploration, independent of the 2019 movie "Dora and the Lost City of Gold."
