The Regional Partnership for the Conservation of the Coastal and Marine Zone (PRCM), in collaboration with UEMOA, the World Bank, and other technical partners, has launched a call for project proposals focused on enhancing the resilience of coastal areas in West Africa.
This initiative is grounded in the principles of subsidiarity, territorial anchoring, equity, cultural and linguistic diversity, and long-term sustainability.
Objectives
This call aims to:

Strengthen the ecological, economic, and social resilience of coastal communities facing climate change through local, sustainable solutions for resource management, environmental restoration and risk reduction.

Support pilot projects that test innovative approaches or enhance existing initiatives in areas such as environmental education, shared governance, advocacy, and social innovation.

Promote nature-based best practices that can be replicated or scaled in other parts of the West African sub-region.

Enhance the technical, organisational, and operational capacities of civil society organisations (CSOs) and community networks by supporting professionalisation, networking, and regional integration.
Priority Themes
Projects should align with one or more of the following themes:

Restoration and conservation of coastal ecosystems.

Ecological restoration of mangroves, dunes, estuaries, and wetlands.

Support for community-led or participatory Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) and other effective conservation measures.

Promotion and support of the blue economy.

Geographic Focus
Projects must be implemented in one of the following countries:

Benin, Ivory Coast, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea-Bissau, Mauritania, São Tomé & Príncipe, Senegal and Togo
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:

Be a civil society organisation (CSO) (e.g., NGO, association, cooperative, economic interest group or women’s or youth group) active in the coastal zones of eligible countries.

Be a community-based organisation (CBO) or village committee involved in natural resource management, coastal governance, or environmental conservation in one of the eligible countries.
-
Be a regional or national network/platform coordinating CSOs working in the coastal and marine space in West Africa.

Provide proof of legal existence for at least 12 months as of the proposal submission date.

Demonstrate the capacity to produce transferable outcomes, such as publications, digital tools or knowledge-sharing platforms.
