The Global Framework on Chemicals Fund is now accepting proposals to support governments and civil society networks working to advance safe, sustainable and responsible chemicals management.

The fund prioritises projects that deliver long-term, practical solutions for chemical safety across multiple sectors.

By backing national and regional initiatives, it seeks to achieve measurable improvements in chemicals management while helping countries meet global environmental commitments.

Funding details

Selected projects will receive between $300,000 and $800,000 in funding.

The fund supports:

  • Implementation of practical, on-the-ground activities

  • Strengthening national chemicals management plans

  • Community-level interventions

  • Promotion of sustainable environmental practices

The call is open to all developing countries and transition economies participating in the Global Framework on Chemicals, with strong encouragement for applicants from:

  • Africa

  • Asia

  • The Pacific

  • Latin America

  • Small Island Developing States

Who can apply

Eligible applicants include:

  • Governments and government agencies

  • Civil society organisations

  • National and regional networks focused on chemical safety

  • Academic and technical institutions engaged in policy, research or capacity building

Application requirements

Proposals must include:

  1. Practical, measurable activities advancing sound chemicals management

  2. Plans to strengthen national or regional regulatory frameworks

  3. Strategies that support communities and human health

  4. Clear alignment with global environmental agreements and commitments
