The United Nations Women’s Peace and Humanitarian Fund (WPHF) has opened a call for proposals under its Rapid Response Window, a funding mechanism designed to address urgent gaps faced by women peacebuilders and women’s rights organisations in fragile and conflict-affected settings.

The initiative supports swift, strategic interventions that enable women to influence peace processes at critical moments.

Aim

The Rapid Response Window seeks to strengthen the meaningful participation of women and young women in peace processes and in the implementation of peace agreements.

It supports timely actions that enable women to engage in both Track 1 and Track 2 peace efforts, particularly during negotiation, transition and early implementation phases.

Funding details

Selected partners may receive up to $1,000,000 over two years or $500,000 for one year.

Funding is primarily intended for onward grants to local, women-led civil society organisations, with strict caps on administrative costs to ensure that resources reach frontline peacebuilders.

The window prioritises short-term, high-impact interventions that respond rapidly to emerging peace opportunities or escalating risks.

Supported activities may include women’s participation in negotiations, ceasefire talks, dialogue platforms and the early stages of peace agreement implementation.

Eligibility criteria

The call is open to international or regional non-governmental organisations that are legally registered and able to operate in at least one eligible region. Applicants must demonstrate:

  • Proven expertise in women, peace and security.

  • Experience managing and regranting funds to local civil society organisations.

  • Operational presence in fragile or conflict-affected settings.

  • Strong financial management, technical capacity and safeguarding systems.

Priority will be given to organisations with a strong track record in peacebuilding, gender equality and humanitarian or conflict-related work.

Deadline

Applications close on January 23, 2026. Interested organisations should apply via the Women’s Peace and Humanitarian Fund website.
