The JustFilms grant programme has announced a call for documentary feature films that champion social justice.

The grants primarily target filmmaking efforts that deeply address critical themes of gender, race, and disability justice, with a thoughtful analysis of power dynamics in society.

Funding details

Ranging from $25,000 up to $100,000, the grants support essential stages of the filmmaking process, including content development, production and post-production.

Successful projects can receive continued financial support based on their sustained alignment with the programme’s core priorities.

Eligibility criteria

Eligible projects must meet the following criteria:

  • The project must be a documentary feature film with a running time of at least 50 minutes.
  • The filmmaker—or filmmakers—must have established creative control over the project.
  • The programme does not support short films, narrative films, student films, or episodic series.
  • Projects that have already premiered or broadcast, commissioned films where the rights holder is not the filmmaker, new media (such as AR or VR), podcasts or impact campaigns are not eligible.

Non-U.S. organisations are welcome to apply, provided they submit documentation proving their legal status and compliance with local regulations.

Together with the project’s creativity and originality, all submissions are carefully evaluated based on how well they align with the JustFilms strategy and the capacity of the filmmakers to independently execute their vision.

Deadline

All applications are due on 30 October 2025 . To apply, visit the Ford Foundation website.
