The UN Decade Youth Task Force has opened applications for its 2026 Micro-Grant Programme, aimed at supporting young people driving ecosystem restoration efforts in their communities.

The initiative invites youth-led organisations to propose restoration projects that prevent ecosystem loss, halt ongoing degradation or restore damaged environments.

Projects must follow the SMART framework—clear, measurable, achievable, relevant and time-bound—with objectives that can realistically be accomplished within the 2026 grant year.

The programme prioritises nature-based solutions that strengthen communities’ ability to protect and sustainably manage their natural resources.

Available funding

The Task Force will award ten micro-grants of up to $1,000 USD each.

To promote global equity, 80% of the grants are allocated to applicants from the Global South, while 20% will support projects from the Global North.

Successful applicants will receive funding to implement field activities and gain international visibility through the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration.

Eligibility criteria

Applicants must:

  • Be a legally registered organisation.

  • Be led by individuals under 35.

  • Work within at least one UN Decade ecosystem category.

  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to ecological restoration and community participation.

Application requirements

Applicants must submit an online application form accompanied by:

  • A project summary.

  • Methodology and SMART objectives.

  • Implementation plan.

  • Expected outcomes.

The programme will not review incomplete applications. Ineligible expenses include conferences, tuition, salaries, workshops and equipment unrelated to project implementation.
