ActionAid Nigeria (AAN), in partnership with Global Affairs Canada (GAC) through the Renewed Women’s Rights and Leadership (RWVL) Project, is inviting expressions of interest (EOI) for its Strategic Opportunity Funding (SOF).

This funding call aims to support advocacy initiatives focused on influencing the passage of the Special Seats Bill for Women in Nigeria, which seeks to strengthen women’s political participation and representation.

Benefits

Under this call, funding is available as follows:

  • Up to ₦5,000,000 for single organisations.

  • Up to ₦20,000,000 for consortia of two to four organisations.

Each consortium must clearly define partner roles, with the lead organisation limited to 30% of the total grant amount—an approach designed to promote collaboration and shared leadership among women’s rights advocates.

Eligibility criteria

Eligible applicants include:

  • Women-led organisations, networks, or movements operating in Nigeria.

  • Groups with proven experience in advocacy for women’s political participation or representation.

Proposed interventions should:

  • Be strategic, time-sensitive and directly linked to influencing the Special Seats Bill.

  • Clearly demonstrate how they address advocacy gaps, complement existing civil society efforts, and deliver measurable impact.

  • Show evidence of strong financial management and reporting systems.

Requirements

Applications must include:

  • Organisation profile.

  • Description of the proposed intervention.

  • Implementation timeline.

  • Detailed budget.

  • Proof of financial and reporting capacity.
