UNESCO is calling for submission of nominations for its prize for Global Citizenship Education (GCED) to promote visibility and recognition of projects around the world.
The call aims to address inequalities and inequities and constructively work towards the success of GCED initiatives.
The UN programme will bring multiple stakeholders together from various levels and types of education, formal and informal. These stakeholders will help ensure that every learner can receive an education that is embedded with principles of respect for human rights.
The prize will be awarded every two years and recognizes outstanding efforts in promoting and advancing GCED.
There are two categories: 1) Youth-led organisations and 2) individuals, institutions, non-governmental organisations and other entities.
From the two categories, two best projects will be selected. Each prize winner will be awarded 50,000 USD.
Eligibility requirements
If you are applying under the Youth-led organization category, then you must be aged between 18-30 years old and leading an organization.
And if you are applying under the second category, you must be either an individual, an institution, or a or a non-governmental organization.
Required projects
- The initiatives you are applying with must be relevant to GCED
- The initiative must has been implemented for at least one year with evidence of concrete activities
- The initiative must not have received any funding from UNESCO
- Be nominated by either a UNESCO National Commission or an NGO in official relation with UNESCO
