Teachers and educators passionate about climate change education are invited to apply for the Climate Box Educator Programme, part of the 2nd International Contest for Educators on the Development of Methodological Materials on Climate Change.

This programme aims to encourage the creation of innovative educational content, support professional development, and expand global access to climate change learning resources.

Objectives

The programme seeks to:

  • Inspire educators to design age-appropriate climate education materials

  • Enrich the Climate Box with new thematic and methodological content

  • Promote modern teaching approaches such as gamification, digital tools, and interdisciplinary methods

  • Support educators’ professional growth through expert review, feedback, and publication opportunities

  • Build a comprehensive database of climate education resources aligned with school curricula

Categories for Submission

Participants can submit materials under any of the following categories:

  1. Integration of Climate Change Topics into School Subjects and Classroom Lessons.

  2. Extracurricular Activities on Climate Change.

  3. Video Lessons and Other Educational Media Materials.

  4. Strategies for Developing Climate-Related Projects for Children and Youth.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must:

  • Be teachers or educators actively engaged in climate change education

  • Preferably use the Climate Box Toolkit (in print or digital form)

  • Demonstrate effective integration of climate topics into school curricula

  • Use diverse student engagement methods and promote self-reflection

  • Engage internal and external partners in the educational process

Application Requirements

1. Lesson Plan

  • Submit as a separate PDF for each lesson (max 5 pages, 2,500 words)

  • Font: Times New Roman or Arial, size 12, line spacing 1.15

  • Include:

    • Lesson topic and climate theme

    • Related school subject

    • Target age group or grade level

2. Extracurricular Activity Plan

  • Submit as a single PDF (max 7 pages, 3,500 words)

  • Focus on practical, engaging activities related to climate change

3. Video Lessons (optional)

  • Format: MP4 or any widely supported format

  • Duration: 1 to 5 minutes

4. Submission Format

  • Main entry: PDF (up to 7 pages, max 3,500 words)

  • Optional attachments: presentations, examples of student projects, and other supporting materials
