The Sexual Violence Research Initiative (SVRI) has opened applications for its doctoral and postdoctoral fellowships, designed to support early-career researchers in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs).
The programme focuses on strengthening research leadership, deepening academic skills and expanding global knowledge on how violence against women (VAW) intersects with violence against children (VAC).
Focus
The fellowship aims to shift global research power by prioritising studies led from within LMICs. SVRI supports scholars who can produce evidence rooted in real community contexts, improving the relevance of interventions and strengthening understanding of violence prevention.
Fellows are expected to contribute to long-term efforts that advance the rights and wellbeing of women and children.
Funding
The programme offers two fellowship tracks, each lasting up to two years.
-
Doctoral fellows: up to $17,000
-
Postdoctoral fellows: up to $20,500
Funding may cover research-related expenses, including data collection travel, software, books, publication fees, academic site visits and attendance at one international conference.
Fellows also gain increased visibility, access to mentorship and connections to global research networks.
Who can apply
SVRI welcomes applicants committed to feminist, equity-driven research, particularly those from underrepresented regions. Both fellowships are open exclusively to early-career researchers that:

Are a national of a low- or middle-income country.
-
Are enrolled full-time at an accredited in-person institution within an LMIC.
