The Global Heat Health Information Network, in partnership with Internews’ Earth Journalism Network (EJN), is now accepting submissions for its Global Photography Competition.
The contest seeks powerful visual stories that capture the growing threat of extreme heat—and how communities worldwide are adapting to its impacts.
This is a unique opportunity for photographers to shed light on the human, environmental, and infrastructural consequences of rising temperatures, while also celebrating local resilience and ingenuity in the face of climate extremes.
Contest Themes
Photographers are invited to submit images under two key categories:

Heat Impacts on Human Health
Examples:
• A construction worker in sun-protective gear
• An elderly person cooling off indoors
• A commuter shading themselves under a tree -
Heat Impacts on the Environment & Animals
Showcasing how extreme heat affects ecosystems, wildlife, and natural landscapes.

Eligibility

Open to individuals and groups worldwide.

Applicants must be 18 years or older.
Submission Guidelines

Only original, unaltered photographs are accepted.

No AI-generated images allowed.

Submit in JPEG or PNG, at least 4000 x 3000 pixels, with minimal compression.

Include the title, date, location, and a caption providing context.

Photos used on personal platforms (Instagram, Facebook, etc.) are allowed.

Multiple entries are welcome, but participants can only win in one category.

Previously awarded or professionally published images are not eligible.
